What Freely collects
Freely stores the account email you sign up with, the profile details you enter (name, discipline, skills, years of experience, currency, target and minimum rates, goal), the opportunities you check or save, and the outcomes you record. If you upload a CV, Freely also stores the text extracted from it along with the experience summary, domains and project types you confirm.
Your CV file
When you upload a PDF or DOCX, the file is sent once to an AI service for text extraction and is not retained as a file by Freely — no copy is written to storage. What is kept is the extracted text and the fields you confirm on the review screen, saved to your profile. They stay there until you press Delete my resume on the Profile page or delete your account, which removes them immediately and permanently.
Why Freely uses it
Profile and CV data exist for one purpose: judging whether an opportunity is worth your time. Your rates decide verdicts, your experience decides whether you are genuinely competitive for a listing. Freely does not sell your data, does not advertise to you, and does not share your profile with clients or platforms.
Anonymous benchmarks
Recorded outcomes contribute to aggregate rate benchmarks. These are anonymised and only ever shown as grouped figures — never attributed to you, your name, or an individual gig.
Processors
Freely uses a hosted database and authentication provider to store your account, and an AI provider to read CVs and analyse pasted opportunities. Text sent for analysis is not used to train models. Public listing data is retrieved from freelance platforms' own APIs.
Your rights
You can view and edit everything Freely holds about you from the Profile page, delete your CV data at any time, and request full account deletion by emailing us. Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, you also have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or object to processing of your data.
